To: the sons
. Remember that there is no gender, no male nor female in the Spirit. The name, or the title of son, speaks of relationship, responsibility, placement, calling. Not a natural, physical gender.
. the word adoption simply means placement. placement into the position, relationship, responsibility. more about this as we continue on.
. Romans 8:14-19,22. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Messiah; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together untill now.
. Galations 4:1-7. Now I say, that the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he is lord of all; But is under tutors and governors untill the time appointed of the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. The Amplified says here in verse 5: that we might be adopted and have sonship conferred upon us [and be recognised as God’s sons.] And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Messiah.
. Ephesians 1:4,5. According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in Love: having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus the Messiah to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.
. 1John3:1-3. Behold, what manner of Love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.
