God’s calendar. Hanukkah. and the abomination that causes desolation…

From: Sophereth at Kirjath Sepher

To: the kingdom of priests

. our God, He calls Himself, the God of Israel, works and acts and moves within His own calendar. His own feast cycle. the feasts of the God of Israel. He said: Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them: Concerning the feasts of the Lord….these are my feasts. Leviticus 23:2.

. just to name a few NT instances: Jesus wasn’t crucified at just any old time, all of that took place at Passover.

. the Holy Ghost didn’t come at just any old time, the Holy Ghost came at Pentecost. the Holy Ghost came to the upper room where they were keeping the feast of Pentecost.

. when Jesus cried out: If any man thirst, let him come to me…that was at the feast of Tabernacles.

. Hanukkah marks the end of God’s feast cycle for the year. after Hanukkah we continue on through the dark days of winter, where there are no feasts. the Lord Jesus was in the porch of Solomon at the feast of dedication. (Hanukkah) it was winter. John 10:22. (i’m going to come back to this).

. even though Hanukkah is not one of the Levitical feasts from Leviticus 23, it is still prophetic.

. to make a long story short, the Maccabees fought their way to Jerusalem. to the Temple. where the Light of the candlestick had gone out. the worship had stopped. desolation. the Light is not to ever go out in the Temple. Antiochus (a type of antichrist) had set up an idol in the Temple as god. a great huge statue of Zeus. the abomination that causes desolation. they threw the idol out, and cleansed the Temple, where animals had been allowed to roam and go to the bathroom, and they found enough holy oil to light the Light. (more about the holy oil later). they worshipped God there. that is the only remedy for desolation.

. this is prophetic in two ways:

. #1. we are the temple of God, are we not? the Light of God is never to go out in us. it is our responsibility to keep it burning. the spirit of antichrist is already at work in the world. his intent is always to set up another god within us. to put out the Light. to stop the worship of the one true God, and take to himself false worship that always brings desolation. the abomination that causes desolation.

. the name Maccabee means hammer.

. the Word of God is a hammer. we must go to war in the Spirit, and fight with the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, and take down every idol that would set itself up in us and cause desolation. we must cleanse the temple of God, which we are, from all issues of the flesh and get hold of the holy oil (more about the holy oil later), and light the Light! and cause it to burn 24/7! we must restore the worship of the one true God within us! that is the only remedy for desolation.

. #2. we are racing toward the time that the man of sin, the son of perdition, that Antiochus was a type of, will set himself up as god, in the temple in Jerusalem. he will demand worship. that false worship will be the abomination that causes desolation. the Lord Jesus will destroy him with the brightness of His coming. ultimately, true worship of the One true God of Israel will be set up. that is the only remedy for desolation.

. Hanukkah. a prophetic feast. the cleansing and dedication and rededication of the temple of God, which we are. the lighting and relighting of the Light of the menorah within us that might have gone out and brought desolation. worship. to the One true God of Israel forever. that is the only remedy for desolation.

. Hanukkah. a prophetic feast. the cleansing and dedication of the corporate temple of God across the earth. the lighting and relighting of the menorah within the ecklesia in every place that it might have gone out and brought desolation. the setting up of true worship to the One true God of Israel forever. the Kingdom. that is the only remedy for desolation.
