. continuing on from yesterday: these are more OT and NT scriptures concerning the When of worship.
. 1Kings 18:17-40. this tells the story of Elijah the Tishbite, the prophet from Gilead, that stood before the Lord. 17:1. these scriptures tell of the contest between two opinions. i.e. if the Lord be God, follow Him: but if Baal, then follow him. the prophets of Baal called upon their god from MORNING until NOON.
. at NOON Elijah mocked them.
. when midday (NOON) was passed they prophesied until the time of the EVENING sacrifice. (3:00 pm)
. at the time of the EVENING sacrifice (3:00 pm), Elijah repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down, and at the time of the EVENING sacrifice (3:00 pm), Elijah began to minister to the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel. then the fire of the Lord fell.
. Nehemiah 8:1-3. all the people gathered as one man…they spake unto Ezra to bring the book of the teaching which the Lord had commanded to Israel…Ezra brought the book. he read from MORNING (9:00 am) until noon…they all answered Amen, Amen, lifted up their hands, bowed their heads and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground.
. Psalm 55:17. EVENING, and MORNING, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. (David and Daniel prayed and worshipped three times a day. (David said that He prayed and worshipped seven times a day.) for the priesthood, worship was DAILY, MORNING and EVENING.
. Daniel 6:10,11. now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open…, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
. Daniel 9:3,20,21. and I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: and I prayed unto the Lord my God….and whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people,…yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel,…being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the EVENING sacrifice. (3:00 pm)
. Matthew 20:1-5. …a householder went out early in the MORNING, and he went out about the THIRD HOUR (9:00 am), …..and he went out about the sixth hour (noon), and the NINTH HOUR (3:00 pm)…
. Matthew 27:45. now from the sixth hour (noon) there was darkness over all the land unto the NINTH HOUR (3:00)pm.
. Matthew 27:46-52. and about the NINTH HOUR Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, la-ma sa-bach-tha-ni? that is to say, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?…then straightway one of them ran, and took a sponge…Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost…and behold the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose… all at the time of the EVENING sacrifice. (3:00 pm) this day, Jesus WAS the EVENING sacrifice…
. Mark 15:25,33. and it was the THIRD HOUR (9:00 am), and they crucified Him. …and when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the NINTH HOUR. (3:00 pm)
. Mark 15:34. and at the NINTH HOUR Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, la-ma sa-bach-thani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?…and one ran and filled a sponge…and Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost…all at the time of the EVENING sacrifice. (3:00 pm) this day, Jesus WAS the evening sacrifice…
. Luke 1:8,9,10,11. and it came to pass, that while he (Zacharias) executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his course, according to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. and the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the time of incense. and there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. (the angel said that Zacharias would be the father of John the baptist. the angel also said that his name was Gabriel, and that he stood in the presence of God). all at the time of the HOUR OF INCENSE. (the hour of incense was at 9:00 am, and 3:00 pm)
. Luke 23:44,45,46. and it was about the sixth hour (noon), and there was a darkness over all the earth until the NINTH HOUR (3:00 pm). and the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. and when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, unto thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost…all at the time of the EVENING sacrifice. (3:00 pm) this day, Jesus WAS the EVENING sacrifice…
. John 19:14-30. and it was the preparation of the Passover, and about the sixth hour (noon): and he (Pilate) said unto the Jews, Behold your King!…and he, bearing his cross went forth into a place…called Golgotha…where they crucified him…Jesus…saith…I thirst…they filled a sponge…he said…it is finished…all at the time of the EVENING sacrifice. (3:00 pm) this day, Jesus WAS the EVENING sacrifice…
