. continuing on from last time: these are more OT and NT scriptures concerning the When of worship.
. Genesis 3:8. and they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the ‘cool of the day’: and they hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God…evidently the Lord God came to fellowship with Adam and Eve, everyday, in the ‘cool of the day’. that was His pattern from the very beginning.
. this is interesting to me. evidently in the first day, the beginning, they came into the presence of the Lord, in Eden, once a day in the evening. when we get to the book of Ezekiel, during the 7th day, the end day, you will see that only daily sacrifice will be the morning sacrifice. there will be no evening sacrifice, because there will be no night there. all sacrifice, God’s pattern of the When in worship, in between the beginning and the end, is the morning and evening sacrifice.
. Thompson Chain Reference Study Bible: Condensed Cyclopedia of Topics and Texts: page 1538-1539: ‘cool of the day’: from about 2:00-6:00. interpreting scripture with scripture, it was about the 3:00 hour.
. Acts 2:15. Amplified. for these men are not drunk, as you imagine, for it is only the third hour (about nine o’clock) of the day…the Holy Ghost came!!! at the third hour!!! at 9:00 am!!! at the morning sacrifice!!!
. Acts 3:1. now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. (3:00 pm)
. Acts 10:1-9,30. there was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. (remember the Strong’s definition of Continual. it is perpetual. alway(s). the regular daily sacrifice. constant.) he saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day (3:00 pm) an angel of God coming in to him (remember Gabriel came to Daniel and to Zecharias at the ninth hour. 3:00 pm. the evening sacrifice.), and saying unto him, Cornelius. and when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it Lord? and he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. and now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: he lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the seaside: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do. and when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually; and when he had declared all these thing unto them, he sent them to Joppa. on the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour (noon): (then he had the vision from God). now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate, and called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there. while Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them. then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come? and they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee. and on the morrow Peter went…and on the morrow…entered into Caesarea…Cornelius waited for them…and as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him…many were come together…why have ye sent for me?…and Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until THIS hour; and at the ninth hour (3:00 pm) I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, and said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God. send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter…who, when he cometh, shall speak to thee…then Peter opened his mouth and said….while Peter yet spake…the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word…all the circumcision…astonished…because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
. here we have it again. all parties, obedient to God in the When of worship. God then moves in an astounding, historical, unprecedented way, and pours out the Holy Ghost on the Gentiles.!!!!! at the ninth hour!!!!! 3:00 pm!!!!! at the evening sacrifice!!!!!
